With guidance from coaches of the Iola Cross Country Ski Team, Waupaca put our skis in the tracks in 2016.  Our inception coincided with Waupaca County opening the Winter Use Trail system groomed for classic, skate skiing and fat tire biking.  A bit skeptical with the idea at first, we drew over a dozen high school and middle school athletes at the first few practices.  From that point we worked on ski + poling techniques, fun challenges + races, roller skiing and glided into the future.  In 2017 we joined the Wisconsin Nordic Ski League allowing those who choose the chance to compete in area races.  In 2018 Waupaca County moved our trails to the Waupaca Country Club, giving our skiers about 5 miles of groomed goodness.

The Comets CC Ski Team + Club is open to adults and youth.  Our decision to purchase all the skiing equipment helps keep the costs low for beginning skiers.  Besides burning winter calories, cross country skiing provides a great platform of cross training for sports involving footwork and elevated heart rates.  We’d love to have you and friends/family join us for a ski!
